The Animal Rescue League is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing domesticated animals and wildlife from suffering, cruelty, abandonment, and neglect. Since 1899 we have advocated the philosophy of our founder, Anna Harris Smith, that “Kindness Uplifts the World”.

    Save the Date: Third Annual Happy Tails Celebration

    Two months from today, July 15, 2012, the Third Annual Happy Tails Celebration will take place at the League’s Boston shelter from 11am to 3pm. Food, music, pet photographs and vendors will be some of the attractions for the day. Toto the Tornado Kitten and owner Jonathan Hall will be making a special appearance. Read More

    78 Cats Spayed/Neutered in Dorchester on May 10

    We are pleased to announce that the 5th Boston Spay and Neuter Day for Cats event that was held on May 10th was a great success. The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Spay Waggin, in collaboration with the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society’s (MRFRS) Cat Mobile, we spayed and neutered 78 cats and provided veterinary care for an additional 20 cats in the cat clinic at the event.
