Currently, Jumpstart partners more than 650 college student and community volunteers to work with 1,400 Massachusetts preschool children living in low-income neighborhoods in Greater Boston, Southeast Massachusetts, and the Merrimack Valley. Together, for the entire school year, they work on the language and literacy skills these children need to succeed not only in school, but also in life.


    6th Annual Jumpstart's Read for the Record

    NEW YORK, NY – October 6, 2011 – Today, millions of adults and children across the country are taking part in Jumpstart’s Read For the Record®. Presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, this nationwide campaign promotes the importance of early education and breaks the record for the largest shared reading experience on a single day. This year, the Campaign will also be tracking how many people read the book online through Jumpstart’s partner, We Give Books, to set a record within a record for the largest digital reading record on a single day.     Scribbles to Novels 2012

    On May 3, 2012, over 250 prominent business and community leaders participated in Jumpstart Scribbles to Novels at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. Guests joined acclaimed authors Ace Atkins, Joanne Chang, Ron Della Chiesa, Andre Dubus III, Hank Phillippi Ryan and Peter H. Reynolds and special guest Bridget Moynahan for a celebration of the written word and to support Jumpstart’s commitment to educational equality.
