The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, we distributed almost 41 million pounds of food, enough to provide healthy meals to as many as 545,000 people. We are committed to increasing our food distribution in 2013 to provide at least ONE MEAL A DAY to every person in need in eastern Massachusetts.

    Greater Boston Food Bank's Holiday Recap

    GBFB distributed meals to more than 76,000 families this Thanksgiving, a 37.6 percent increase over last year’s total. The distribution provided holiday meals to many of the one in nine eastern Massachusetts residents in need of food assistance. In addition to a successful annual online Turkey Drive, increased monetary donations enabled GBFB to honor requests for alternate meal options. GBFB was able reach more families by providing turkey, chicken and other poultry to meet the specific needs of each family. Read More

    WAAF 107.3 FM’s LB and Spaz “Rise Up Against Hunger”

    On December 4, 5 and 6, WAAF FM’s on-air personalities LB and Spaz rose up on boom cranes, and camped out in the sky for three days for “Rise Up Against Hunger” to benefit The Greater Boston Food Bank. Greg Hill of The Hill-Man Morning Show was on air around the clock throughout the event to provide live updates. Each December, the DJs devote three days to various physically challenging activities to raise money for hunger relief. This year’s event raised $80,255 dollars, enough to provide 189,401 meals to those in need. Read More
